Our Flower Farm

We grow flowers on about one acre of Clare’s family farm in Burscough, Lancashire. We started growing our own blooms for cutting, back in 2012 as we were struggling to find the gorgeous cottage garden varieties we love at the general flower market, everything seemed to be a bit boring, we wanted to use something a little different, something with character and scent, without a huge carbon footprint. We are very lucky as the land is very flat with brilliantly nutritional soil, great for growing flowers in. Our main nemesis, after weeds(that also love our great soil), is the British weather, particularly the wind as it comes straight at us from the sea at Southport.

Our flowers change week by week throughout the year and we never find two years to be the same. Its exciting waiting to see what beauty will be the next to flower. As we grow predominately outdoors it’s very difficult to accurately predict what we will have at any one time. This certainly keeps us on our toes, and is one of the reasons we can’t use all our own flowers for every order. We buy in from other Uk growers as well as from the worldwide flower market, this is particularly the case during the winter months as we only have berries and foliage, although beautiful, we feel they need a little extra. We would hate for our customers to ever be disappointed, so if our own flowers don’t meet our high standards they are out, although we love them dearly, there’s no favouritism here!

Below is a collection of photos of our flowers growing to hopefully give you a feel of how we work.
